Enrol Yourself & Edspace present Lifelong Learners: conversation, inspiration & workshopping with 4 initiatives supporting people to continually learn beyond the institution.
Collins dictionary defines lifelong learning as ‘the provision or use of both formal and informal learning opportunities throughout people's lives in order to foster the continuous development and improvement of the knowledge and skills needed for employment and personal fulfilment’.
But, with the call for unprecedented creativity in response to challenges coming from every direction, what role can lifelong learning play? We’ll ask questions such as:
+ Why are so many articles (such as this) claiming that lifelong learning has a huge role to play in our future? Where are we seeing this start to play out?
+ What structures are needed, at an individual and societal level, to support deep lifelong learning?
+ Are discussions around lifelong learning privileged discussions?
We’ll be discussing these questions and more through our take on a World Cafe style event.
The wonderful Lauren Currie (aka Redjotter) will chair the event, and you’ll have the chance to join two discussion groups led by:
Year Here (www.yearhere.org)
Participatory City (www.participatorycity.org)
Enrol Yourself (www.enrolyourself.com)
We’ll be documenting discussions and challenging our initiatives to present back their insights at the end of the evening. Whilst they’re preparing, we’ll be asking you to design your own lifelong learning curriculum.
Your ticket includes refreshments. Think wine, soft drinks and enough finger food to keep you going until 9pm.
